The Velvet Café

A room for thoughts about movies

Leaving the comfort blanket for a moment

with 8 comments

I usually don’t talk very much here. It’s all about the written word. It feels safer that way. But once in a while I leave my blanket behind, making a talk show where anything can happen. And now this has happened again.

LAMB, the large association of movie blogs, where I’m a member, recently ran a show where five bloggers battled over their top lists of 2013 and I was one of the participants. Who won the fight? Judge for yourself.

  1. I don’t even have to listen to it to know that you won, Jessica. Not by force of will or by excellent argumentation, but just by the sheer ability to be right. 😉

    • Thanks Steve! I’m pretty sure there are those who will disgree wtih me though, especially about putting a certain movie over another certain movie as my number one. But as we all know, it boils down to personal taste, which not always can be motivated with reason.

  2. A great episode and you held your own very well. If you ever want to venture out again, I’d be happy to have you on my Filmwhys podcast. It’s always great to have more female voices in film podcasts.

    • Thank you so much Bubbawheat! I’d love to be in your show. Just poke me when you have a spot free and we’ll see if we can arrange something.

      • Awesome! It’ll probably be around March. Too many people I want to have as guests, and not enough time to podcast more, I’ll keep you in mind for sure though.

Also forgot to mention it, but I loved the fact that you brought up Nugulmar Z, now if it would just release somewhere so I can actually get the chance to see it too.

        • Hehe, I loved the crazyness of Nugulumar Z. Glad that someone appreciated it being mentioned. 🙂

  3. Jessica, I’m actually listening to it right now, and it’s great to hear your thoughts and picks. Excellent job!
